COVID-19 Hospitalization
This dashboard has been developed using data extracted from both the California Reportable Disease Information Exchange (CalREDIE) and the California Health and Human Services Agency's Common Network for Electronic Data Exchange and Communications (CalCONNECT).

toolbar-container { display: none !important; color: transparent; }- Hospitalization: Counts reflect the number of days of hospitalization for all patients diagnosed with COVID-19 during their stay. Per CDPH, this does not mean patients were necessarily hospitalized due to COVID-19 complications or were experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
- Limitation on Hospitalized Patients and ICU Patients data: Data is understood to be incomplete prior to 7/23/2021, before CDPH’s All Facilities Letter (AFL) 21-25 issuance that mandated hospitals to report discharge data for cases hospitalized with a positive COVID-19 test. Note: As of May 2023, CDPH major data pipeline changes have severed flow of data into CalREDIE, only manual reporting by Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District is being displayed.
- Limitation on New Admissions data: Available data starts on 7/22/2020, reflecting changes towards an updated definition for “new hospital admissions” and the source of information, data pipelined through the California Hospital Association (CHA). Yet, the new source is understood to be more complete on case information due to the statewide mandated requirement to report.
- Update May 2024: "Per the end of the Public Health Emergency, CDPH’s All Facilities Letter (AFL) 21-25 has expired on 4/30/2024, hospitals are no longer mandated to report weekly discharge information. As such, historical data was last captured on 5/6/2024. Displayed information is understood to be the most comprehensive and coherent data available, displaying a clearer picture of burden of disease of COVID-19 hospitalizations. Hospitalization data displayed for historical purposes only."
